That’s a good point! I think in that case, I’ll just touch-up as I go with some artist brushes if need be. Thanks again!

  2. @ddicecca You could probably get away with that (sure would be easier). The one concern is that if those mineral fiber tiles “shift” at all after painting, you could easily end up having a thin white line of unpainted tile showing up along the grid. You might try “lifting” each tile edge while painting them, so you can spray up onto the tile area that will be resting on the grid. Of course, the problem with lifting the darn things at all is that you’ll generate some pretty nasty dust.

  3. Good question! I have actually seen people remove old mineral fiber tiles and roll paint them with pretty good success, though if I was doing the job I’d most likely rent an airless sprayer and go that route. It will use less paint, won’t tend to put so much paint build-up on the tile, and gives you a better shot at painting the porous spaces without “filling” them. Best of luck with your project!

    Hi there,

I have the “traditional” ceiling tiles (very porous). . . I want to spray paint them to save time and to get in all those little porous spaces. Would you agree that this would be the best – as far as painting is concerned?

    Thank you.
